Christchurch Highlights Tour (Lyttelton Port Departure 8:30am)
Your journey begins right at your port, in the hip and historic town of Lyttelton. Here you will learn the fascinating history of the European settlers.
From Lyttelton, we take our comfortable 10 seater van around the bays of picturesque Lyttelton Harbour. On this section, we will drive through the Rāpaki settlement, home to the Rāpaki Marae (traditional Māori meeting house) and learn about the local Māori history. You will also be able to see Canterbury's largest island, Quail Island/Otamahua!
As we drive atop the Port Hills, have your camera ready for the best views of the city and Lyttelton Harbour. Parking up at the historic ‘Sign of the Kiwi’ café, we will take an easy walk along the rim of the harbour’s extinct volcano to learn about the flora, fauna and geography of the area. Before we leave, enjoy morning tea on us!
As we descend down into Christchurch/Otautahi your guide will give you a tour of the city from the van, pointing out our most significant landmarks, buildings and art.
We finish off the day with a drive through the bizarre 'Red Zone', a once suburban area now abandoned. At the conclusion of your tour, you can be dropped off in Christchurch or back at port.

Driving out of Christchurch/Otautahi have your camera ready as we take our comfortable 10 seater van atop the Port Hills for the best views of the city and Lyttelton Harbour. Next we arrive at the hippest suburb of Christchurch, Lyttelton. Here you will learn the fascinating history of the European settlers before heading over scenic Evans Pass, and down to the charming beach town of Sumner.
We finish off the day with a drive through the bizarre 'Red Zone', a once suburban area now abandoned as a result of the 2010 & 2011 earthquakes.
