Places to visit in Christchurch | Riccarton Farmers’ Market

Attending the Riccarton Saturday Markets is a weekly tradition for many locals, whether you’re looking for a fun Saturday activity or simply want to tick off your fresh produce shopping for the week, the Riccarton Markets have it all!

Walking in through Riccarton bush, struck with the sight of colorful fruits and vegetables, all locally grown, it’s almost impossible not to stop by. I couldn’t help but fill my bag with juicy strawberries, crisp apples, and a bunch of leafy greens. The vendors are always friendly and super passionate about their produce, making the shopping experience even more enjoyable.

Feeling peckish, I made my way to the food stalls. The variety was amazing – from gourmet pies and freshly baked bread to the local legends in the steak sandwich stall. I opted for a mouthwatering cream-filled donut, bursting with sweetness. Finding a shady spot to sit by the river among the ducks, I enjoyed my snack while soaking in the lively atmosphere around me.

The Riccarton Saturday Markets are more than just a place to shop; they’re a community hub where people come together to enjoy the best of what Christchurch has to offer every single weekend no matter the weather. I left with bags full of goodies, a satisfied appetite, and a happy heart. It was the perfect way to spend a Saturday morning.

If you’re ever in Christchurch on a weekend, I highly recommend visiting the Riccarton Markets. It’s a little slice of local culture and charm that’s sure to make your weekend special!
