Banks Peninsular Explorer

Your journey begins at the doorstep of your accommodation.

From here, we will take our comfortable 10 seater van atop the the Port Hills for the best views of Christchurch city and Lyttelton Harbour. Parking up at the historic ‘Sign of the Kiwi’ cafe, we will take an easy walk along the rim of the harbour’s extinct volcano to learn about the flora, fauna and history of the area. Before we leave, enjoy afternoon tea on us!

Learn about the local Māori history as we drive around the bays of picturesque Lyttelton Harbour. On this section, we will drive through the Rapaki settlement, home to the Rapaki Marae (traditional Māori meeting house).

Next we arrive at the hippest suburb of Christchurch, Lyttelton. Here you will learn the history of the European settlers and the significance of the port before heading over scenic Evans Pass, and down to the charming beach town of Sumner.

From here it is a short drive back to your accommodation in Christchurch.

*If you are booking from a cruise ship, we have a special morning slot from 8:30am to 12pm on cruise days. This will be the same tour in reverse.
